P. Succinctus

P. Succinctus

Porcellio succinctus is a very large terrestrial isopod that thrives in a warm, dry enclosure. Because this species comes from Spain, it should be kept much drier than many other common isopods, with only a small area of the enclosure kept slightly humid so they can rehydrate as needed. Provide plenty of ventilation, deep chunky leaf litter, and hides such as cork bark so they can shelter during the day and feel secure.

These isopods will readily eat a varied diet of vegetables and high‑quality fish flakes, with yams called out as a favorite staple on the product page. You can supplement their diet with cuttlebone or eggshell for extra calcium, and offer occasional protein sources like dried shrimp. As with all isopods, avoid sudden changes in temperature or humidity, keep the enclosure clean of mold and uneaten food, and always follow any specific shipping or acclimation instructions from the seller.
